An ecozone is a a large division of land, which has similar biotic and abiotic features. Canada has 15 terrestrial and 5 marine ecozones.
The Pacific Maritime
The Pacific Maritime is the fourth smallest ecozone in Canada, with a land area of 207 000 sq. km. It consists of 1.4% of Canada's total area, and 2.2% of Canada's land area. Also, 25% of this region is protected from deforestation and hunting.
Location
The Pacific Maritime is Canada's most westerly ecozone, located on the coast of the North Pacific Ocean. It stretches from North of the B.C.-Yukon Border to the United States. Most of the ecozone is covered by British Columbia, but some of it's area includes a small portion of the Yukon Territory.
